| A message from your Vice-Chancellor, "During my visit to Ottawa and Toronto earlier this year, I met with amazing alumni
making their way in the world. I emphasized at the time that our ranking in the top 200 (out of 2,500) as a global university can also be attributed to the support we receive from our alumni across the globe. |
And for that I thank you. It was gratifying to be able to personally thank and recognise many donors who have been steadfast in their support over the years. If you have already responded to our November
2022 alumni appeal, I thank you. |
Our focus to alumni has always been on scholarship, and through Canadian support we are able to assist more than 50 students across faculties each year. Many of you receiving this letter will have received such alumni support during your time at UCT. We thank alumni who recognise this and are ‘paying it forward’. Every dollar counts, no matter the size, towards the greater goal of
increasing accessibility to education. |
Alumni have also impacted our interactions at the community level, through active departmental engagements, and student volunteering through SHAWCO.
As we rise in international rankings, so too the value of your qualification rises. And that is why alumni support is crucial to reaching our Vision 2030 to #Unleash human potential. You can read more on the three pillars of Excellence, Transformation, Sustainability by following the link to Vision 2030. I call on you to continue your support, or become a first-time donor, and join us in attaining our Vision2030. Follow this link to a list of areas for support. You are also welcome to contact Di Stafford directly if you have a project dear to your heart. |
| In considering the longer term, a gift in your Will continues your support of your alma mater, its
students, and its mark on families, communities and the wider world. Di can provide confidential assistance to any queries or updates. |
To those I met in Ottawa and Toronto, it was wonderful to be there in person. To those I have yet to meet – I look forward to meeting you and showing you what UCT #Unleash can achieve." |
With kind
regards, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng Vice-Chancellor University of Cape Town
