Dear Alumni

Join UCT Canada on Wednesday the 7th of June at Union Station, Toronto at 4:30 pm as part of the Luminato Festival 2023 to welcome Little Amal https://www.walkwithamal.org/. 

Little Amal is an international symbol of compassion and human rights. She carries a message of hope for displaced people everywhere, especially children who have been separated from their families. Learn more about the event and procession here.

Little Amal is a puppet built by the Handspring Puppet Company puppeteers and UCT alumni, Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones. This is an opportunity to celebrate UCT's excellence, craftsmanship, and talent behind Little Amal. Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones are to be honored by the University of Toronto Mississauga with honorary doctorate degrees on June 8th at 2:30 pm. The duo will be acknowledged and honored for their commitment to social justice, international cooperation, and compassion. 

For any alums who will be present at the event on the 7th, you will find me opposite Union station, standing on the west-side of the Royal York Hotel (corner Front and York Streets). I will be wearing my Straight out of UCT t-shirt (see picture attached) so feel free to join me or say hello. For anyone available to grab a drink after the procession, meet me at the Keg Steakhouse (165 York St, Toronto ON) between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm.
